WORLD number one Lorena Ochoa claimed her first major title and became the first woman to win a professional title on the Old Course at St Andrews in the Ricoh Women's British Open.

The 25-year-old from Guadalajara (pictured below) carded a closing 74 to finish five under par, four ahead of Sweden's Maria Hjorth and South Korean Jee-Young Lee, who both shot 71.
