One of the North-East's sporting greats moved a step closer to the dream he first had two years ago when The Glenn McCrory International School of Boxing officially opened yesterday, writes Stuart Rayner.
A clue to McCrory's ambition is the first flags visible from the door. A Cuban and a Union Jack banner hang either side of a Northumberland flag. "Great Britain winning the right to stage the 2012 Olympics gave me a buzz and made me think, 'Wow, this is the biggest event in my sporting lifetime and I want to be part of it,'" said the only North-East boxer (pictured left) to win a world title when he claimed the IBF cruiserweight belt in 1989.See the full content of this document
