AN elderly man was taken to hospital after an explosion on a boat moored in Northumberland. The 82-year-old, said to be from Northumberland, was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital suffering burns after a boiler exploded on board the boat at Amble Marina, at around noon on Saturday. The pensioner was on board a privately owned 40-foot long former RAF boat at the marina when a small propane gas boiler or stove caught fire and exploded at around 12.30pm.
