AN HGV driver who killed a 16-year-old from Tyneside after ignoring signs to go slow has been jailed for four years.
Gary Cartmell, 43, was driving as fast as his lorry would go along an ice-bound section of the A1 motorway in North Yorkshire on January 6, this year. Despite passing three signs recommending drivers limit their speed to 30mph, Cartmell's vehicle was recorded reaching speeds of up to 54mph moments before he struck and killed Jake Gray, from North Shields, and seriously injured his mother Gillian.See the full content of this document
