Summary

THOSE who backed KALK BAY for the Spring Mile at Doncaster left their money behind as the favourite made little impression from a low stall. He wasn't given a hard time, though, once his chance had gone and, lightly raced and progressive last year, he should be given another chance. He will leave this form well behind in due course.

Trying a mile for the first time, ETON RIFLES ran an excellent race in fifth in the Lincoln on ground plenty quick for him. He has shown his best running on an easy surface and, when he gets his ideal conditions and is dropped back in trip, he can defy his current mark.
