Underhand 1859: Underhand was the only horse to win the Northumberland Plate three times, and on each occasion he scored narrowly.
As a three-year-old in 1857, he beat Ascot Gold Cup winner Skirmisher by a head. The following year he triumphed by a neck and in 1859 he defied 8st 12lb to complete his unique hat-trick by a neck.See the full content of this document
