I AGREE with the NFU that set-aside did not play a big part in the conservation of farmland birds.

When farmers and gamekeepers alone were left to the wildlife it was managed and understood very well. Now skies and ground are filled with predators and vermin and these numbers are on the increase. The RSPB does not seem to be efficient in the preservation of the wild birds.
