Farmer Chris Wilson, who trains a small string of racehorses, saddled his first Flat winner when Zeydnaa got home with half a length to spare from Notte Italiana in the Skyram Handicap at Catterick yesterday.

"It's been a long time," said Wilson, and he wasn't referring to getting off the mark on the level. He hadn't savoured a success of any description since Quarterstaff won a chase at Kelso in April, 2003.
