THERE was a tardiness about Durham's work in the field, but also a touch of class with the ball which has put them into a match- winning position against Warwickshire. This was a very good day which should have been an excellent one for the reigning County champions, who took a lead of 64 runs into the second innings after dismissing Warwickshire for 224 in the final session.

There was a lively performance from Stephen Harmison, which bodes well for the rest of the season, a hugely encouraging one from Callum Thorp on his return to the side after a Twenty20 break and another one of promise from Chris Rushworth.
