THE headmaster of a top North East school has hit out at the Government's new performance tables.

Dr Bernard Trafford, headmaster at Newcastle's Royal Grammar School, has spoken out saying: "They're always misleading, but this year they're downright silly." The Department for Education published GCSE league tables yesterday and for the first time they included figures for an "English Baccalaureate".
