FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze at a derelict landmark building on the banks of the Tyne yesterday. Rush-hour commuters watched as smoke billowed from Tyne Bridge Tower, a 13-storey block on the Gateshead side of the river, currently undergoing demolition.
