A FLAGSHIP waste recycling centre for Northumberland could cost 25% extra to build because of a delay in securing planning permission, it was claimed yesterday.

SITA UK says local opposition means the bill for developing the pounds 11m waste recycling and transfer station at West Sleekburn, near Bedlington, could soar by between pounds 2m and pounds 3m.
