STRICT Government spending rules could mean hundreds more jobs are lost at a Tyneside defence company.

BAE Systems has warned 217 jobs are likely to go at its Newcastle factory following further restructuring. The cuts, amounting to a third of the workforce, were originally set to result in 50 posts being axed.
