BOOKMAKER Paddy Power has said its UK shops made profits for the first time as unlucky punters boosted business for the group.

The Irish group's UK retail arm posted underlying operating profits of pounds 67,500 in the first half of 2007, compared with a loss of pounds 2m in the same period last year.
