Northern Foods yesterday continued its cost-cutting with the sale of its Minsterley dairy products business for pounds 16.5m.

Hull-based Northern, which employs 1,500 at its Cavaghan and Gray biscuit factory in Carlisle, said it had agreed to sell the operation to dairy giant Uniq to reduce group debt.
