Writing a script for a Carlisle performance is becoming somewhat predictable these days. It goes without saying there will be plenty of possession and some attractive flowing football but, coupled with that, will be a dominant defence, prone to sleeping and inevitably the same old Carlisle ( just not scoring.

The lack of goals was certainly not helped by the withdrawal of Danny Graham, Kevin Gall and Derek Holmes, who joined leading scorer Karl Hawley on the treatment table.
