SWALW ELL powered to their fifth straight win to maintain the lead of the Wellstream Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League, but Ryton stay close after a run chase ended in glory for the new boys.

The champions proved too hot to handle for Benwell and Walbottle who are now at the wrong end of the table. There were runs for all five batsmen who got to the crease for Swalwell as they made 273-3, Stuart Pattison (68no) and Marcus Peart (62no) being the beneficiaries of a friendly home attack.
