Steel group Corus has seen half-year profits more than double but warned yesterday that trading conditions had become tougher as selling prices cooled.

The rejuvenated group, which employs about 2,900 people on Teesside, showed the benefits of its restructuring with interim operating profits of pounds 483m, against pounds 195m in 2004.
