Summary


A consortium led by a Tyneside engineering firm has won a pounds 900,000 Government grant to carry out alternative energy research.

Newcastle-based PB Power will manage a group comprising the New and Renewable Energy Group within Durham University's school of engineering; Hebburn-based transmission and distribution equipment supplier VA Tech; Newcastle IT company IMASS and Scottish Power to investigate the capacity limitations of high-voltage electricity networks to accept generators such as wind turbines.
