PLANS to sell off Government-owned forests have raised concerns in an isolated North East village. Reports at the weekend suggested that Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman is poised to announce plans that could dispose of thousands of hectares of woodland overseen by the Forestry Commission.

The plans would pave the way for new Center Parcs-style holiday villages, golf courses, adventure sites or commercial logging operations in the region.
