A property company has been accused of turning an area of open green space into an overgrown eyesore after losing a planning battle to build on it.

The plot of grassland in Morpeth, Northumberland, was used for many years as a mini-village green where children played and people walked their dogs and was regarded as a "green lung" for the large Kirkhill housing estate.
