VILLAGERS perched over 1,000 feet above sea level face being left high and dry when their Post Office closes today.

People living in Rookhope, Weardale, population 250, will be left with a once a week service when a post office worker from the area calls at their homes to cash cheques, change foreign currency or provide any other service normally carried out in the village shop.
