A man accused of killing his former girlfriend's partner in a late night street clash walked free from court yesterday after the charge was dropped against him.
Michael Newton was alleged to have kicked and stamped on Sean Ridley's head in a confrontation in Elswick in Newcastle's West End on January 30 this year. In police interviews Newton admitted being involved in a fight with Mr Ridley, but maintained others or another had joined in and they must have been responsible for inflicting the fatal injuries.See the full content of this document
