CATTLE breeders should get rid of sub-fertile females as well as stock testing positive to Johnes' disease and BVD to take advantage of the current record prices for cull cows, according to the National Beef Association (NBA).

It urged breeders not to cash in good breeding females because of the strong market, as replacements are set to become even more expensive.
