A RESCUE operation on a centuries-old pele tower has resulted in a bitter neighbour dispute in a sleepy Northumberland village.

Developer Stephen Armstrong bought historic Whittingham Tower for pounds 80,000 in 2005 when the derelict, three-storey stone building was put up for auction by its owner, Lord Ravensworth of Eslington.
