MORE than 200 competitors took part in this year's North of England Blackface Sheep Breeders Association stockjudging event.
John Pattinson from Hott Bank, Bardon Mill, judged the event at Hexham Mart which had 10 classes for the competitors to pick their winners from: 1. Blackface ewes (Loaned by Closehead) 2. Blackface tup hoggs (Loaned by Yatesfield) 3. Swaledale ewes (Loaned by Harwood Shield) 4. Blackface tups (Loaned by Stewart Shields) 5. Mule ewe hoggs (Loaned by Branton East Side) 6. Blackface ewes (Loaned by Unthank) 7. Bluefaced Leicester tup hoggs (Loaned by Gapshield) 8. Blackface ewe hoggs (Loaned by Wanwood Hill) 9. Blackface Gimmers (Loaned by Great Chesters) 10. Overall Champion was the Blackface tup from Stewart Shields. Alan Alderson won the open class with 417 points, Neil Robson was second with 400 points and Angus Murray and Ken Shield were joint third on 388 points.See the full content of this document
