Borders coach Steve Bates has left out Scotland caps Chris Cusiter and Bruce Douglas for tonight's warm-up game against Leeds Tykes at Headingley.

Bates doesn't want to overplay the Scotland duo given the demanding international schedule they are likely to face this season. "It's part of the very positive attitude we are trying to take towards Scotland's international preparations. We're keen to support the Scotland effort," said Bates. Cusiter and Douglas will play when the Borders face champions Llanelli in the opening round of the Celtic League at Netherdale in just over a week's time.
