IWAS managing director of a public company for about 25 years until the end of July last year. During most of that time my pay, including benefits and any bonuses, was reported in the company's annual accounts. It did not cause me to leave the country.
I think that Lord Myners is absolutely right in saying that the pay, including bonuses and benefits, of higher paid bank employees should be similarly disclosed. Furthermore, I believe that the basis and rationale for the larger payments should be stated so that shareholders and taxpayers can form a view as to whether they are justified.See the full content of this document
