Retailer confidence rose to its highest level in two years in September, despite falling sales and fears that rising prices could dent consumer demand in the run-up to Christmas, according to a property agent.

Sales volumes declined across all retail sectors except for food over August and September, according to CB Richard Ellis's monthly Retail Sales Monitor.
