Councillors have hit out at thieves who took flowers from a community park.

The beds at Cornthwaite Park in Whitburn in South Tyneside were filled with colourful and attractive plants put in by the council's streetscape workers for the enjoyment of residents and to boost the village's chances in the Northumbria in Bloom competition.
