SINCE the coalition Government came to power in May, there have been numerous changes to the English town planning system. The majority of the changes have been based upon the new Government's desire to promote the concept of "localism" - giving people a greater say in development proposals in the area they live.

CONFIRMATION, if it were needed, that our country has sunk to the depths of a third-rate banana republic, can be found in any recent edition of our national or regional newspapers. I do not think the depths to which we as a nation have fallen is particularly the fault of the media, since they only report what is occurring in a society with apparently changing, nay, reducing expectations.

Why Take Risk for the Sake of a Drink?
IS binge-drinking during pregnancy really abuse by umbilical cord? Professor Barry Carpenter said this and added that the country was facing an unprecedented rise in the number of children born with learning disabilities thanks to binge drinking. Prof Carpenter made the comments at a Royal College of Nursing summit. He added it was mainly women age 19 to 24 who weren't planning to get pregnant and continued to drink through the first three months of pregnancy that were leading this rise.
