Charities Could Be Kicked Out of Shoe Banks ; Controversial Move Would Make Money

CHARITIES could be forced to hand over their collection points and shoe banks in Northumberland. Organisations such as the Salvation Army and the British Heart Foundation have textiles and shoe banks at council waste recycling centres and car parks. They are not currently charged for the sites, but now they could lose them to commercial operators as the county council seeks to make money from recycling banks.

Flybe Ready to Land in the Stock Market

BRITAIN'S biggest domestic airline, Flybe, is gearing up for a stock market flotation that is expected to value the company at pounds 200m, it has been reported. Flybe's directors decided to press ahead with their plans to list the company at a board meeting on Friday and expect to issue an 'intention to float' notice by the end of this week, according to a report in The Sunday Times.

Talks Launched to Secure Future of Pontin's Brand

TALKS are expected to continue today in a bid to secure the future of well-known UK holiday brand Pontin's. At the weekend advisory firm KPMG was appointed administrator to the holiday company, which employs 850 staff in the UK.

EUROPEAN Commission bosses have sounded a dire warning over the North East's future as the Government considers withdrawing millions of pounds in European funding. Senior officers at the commission have said the coalition Government's policies will leave English regions such as the North East without a voice.
